First Donation

From recent income, my first donation of 1 % goes to Fauna & Flora International. They are a UK-based charity for wildlife conservation. Together with partner organisations across the globe, they endeavour to protect endangered species from extinction. Both by preserving their habitat and by discouraging hunting as a source of income.

Amongst the projects they list on their website, one particular one stood out against all others to me. You’ll not be surprised that it is about saving an endangered gecko species from poachers. Hence, the decision was a pretty straightforward one.

The Union Island gecko (gonatodes daudini) seen on the right is a tiny creature that only lives on Union Island. Click here to find out what Fauna & Flora International is doing to help it. They also have nicer pictures of it. So make sure you do visit 🙂

While it is not certain that this donation will go towards the rescue of this gecko (Fauna & Flora International doesn’t do a restricted appeal for this project), I’m sure that the money is in good hands.

If you are wondering about the focus on geckos, make sure to visit the About me page and you’ll find out why!
